On Wednesday, 22 passengers who were traveling in 2 different taxis on the Kyenjojo Kampala highway were involved into an accident where 10 people died on the spot.
According to one of the survivors and the Police, the accident whose death toll has so far risen to 14 people was caused by reckless driving of the driver of taxi UBK017N who it is said that he was on phone while at the same time over speeding.
The accident involved a taxi registration number UBR800S that was traveling from Fort Portal to Kampala which collided with another taxi registration UBK017N that was traveling to Fort portal from Kampala.
The incident happened on Wednesday at Ngezi Trading Centre according to the Rwenzori region police spokesperson, Vicent Twesige, where survivors were rushed to Fort Portal Regional Referral Hospital.
Those who lost their lives according to the Police included Daphine Kembabazi, Suzan Kamukama, Steven Musiromu, Pascal Kasaija and Monica Kabarwani while others victims were yet to be identified.
