What to do with expired soda?  – Trouble started when my wife was operated on, my son was admitted and oxygenated and I myself blacked out thus spending a week in a hospital bed.

As a Soft drinks Stockist owning a mini depot in Kayunga, Uganda, some of what I deal in is Soda. To my surprise, I found up to 5 big cartons of Coke soda, 3 cartons of Fanta soda, 5 Pepsi mini sodas, etc past the expiry date. This left me with lots of questions that needed answers due to the urgency of the matter.

Questions like will drinking expired soda hurt you? How long does canned soda last after expiration? Can expired soda cause food poisoning? What to do if you drink expired soda? And lots came were came into my mind, all aimed at ensuring that I was to make no loss, and or at least have it minimized.

Wanting to avoid a total loss – like you know it is the time I need money most in order to cater for my medical bills, school fees balances, household upkeep and etc., off I rushed to Google, asked, and started reading what others had to say, after looking at the Apartment Design Trends For 2022.

• According to Ask USDA, “Carbonated soft drinks or sodas are not perishable, and are safe past the date stamped on the container. According to them, you are able to drink and consume unopened diet sodas within 3 months after the date expires; regular sodas within 9 months. ”. ASK USDA is the U.S Department of Agriculture.
• According to Sodapopcraft, “all sodas will come with a best by date but that relates to the quality of the soda, they are still safe to drink beyond the date on the label. Rather, you won’t have to worry about becoming sick, but you may have to deal with an awful-tasting and flat soda”.
• According to Onepotdishrecipe, “It is still safe to drink expired soft drinks despite the expiration date. The chemical components in the beverage do not pose a health hazard and can help prevent people from getting sick. However, the taste of the product will decline as it gets older”.

Is Expired Soda Safe?

As far as the links above are concerned, expired soda doesn’t seem bad for drinking. It all looks like it is safe to consume. However, this is a decision to take on an individual level than a generalized one since people share different fantasies when it comes to enjoyment.

What I Did With the Expired Soda

Once I read the above, I decided to give away all the expired sodas having tried to get help from the main suppliers and got no help. To my surprise, people really enjoyed the expired soda. You can sell it, giveaway or drink it.

Final Word

Drinking expired soda shouldn’t worry you. If you don’t want to lose it, you can instead drink it for as long as you had kept it unopened. You can also give it to those who feel they can deal with it since they are available, just like it happened this side.
